I have an addiction. Not only do I have an addiction, but it's a bad one.

I love paper.

There, I said it. It probably doesn't sound like a big deal to you. Who cares about collecting a bit of paper you say? Obviously you don't share my affliction. I've been collecting paper for years. It started when I was a teenager, gathering flyers for rock shows, programs from plays and ticket stubs. When I flip through old scraps of paper I can instantly conjure the memories of where I got them.

As I got older my taste in paper matured a bit. I caught the concert poster bug and I was instantly hooked. I could go on and on about concert posters. It's a sub culture unto its own. The important things to know is that gig posters can get expensive and framed posters take up a LOT of space.

R and I live in an extremely small place. 750ish square feet would be a good estimate. Wall space is at a premium to say the least. I've got something hanging on pretty much every inch of available space and drawers, boxes and tubes full of things I would love to add into the mix. What am I getting at here? There is NO more room in my life for more paper.

However, I came across something today that I just have to have. Enter Doghouse Pet Portraits. Kristin's pet portraits are out of this world and I think that we absolutely have to have them.

(via oh please, oh please let it be okay that I used your image.)

These portraits are fantastic! Not only that, but in the course of writing this post I realized that I can get our animal's portraits done on canvas.

That doesn't really count as more paper, does it?

Would it be wrong to plan our entire wedding around a pair of shoes?

I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Cindy McCain NOH8 PHOTO: McCain Joins Project Protesting Prop 8

Click here to find out more!

(Courtesy of the Huffington Post)

On Wednesday, the NOH8 campaign protesting California's Proposition 8 announced a new high-profile Republican supporter: John McCain's wife, Cindy McCain. NOH8 is a photo project in which subjects are photographed wearing white, against a white background, with their mouths taped shut and "NOH8" painted on their faces.

McCain's daughter Meghan McCain -- a vocal proponent of marriage equality -- posed for NOH8 last summer. (Her Daily Beast piece explaining why she posed can be found here.)

The NOH8 website posted the following note, along with McCain's photo, expressing the campaign's surprise and appreciation that she decided to join the cause.

Redefining Republican:

In the year since we've started the NOH8 Campaign, we've been surprised at some of the different individuals who have approached us showing their support. Few, though, have surprised us more than Cindy McCain--the wife of Senator John McCain and mother to vocal marriage equality advocate Meghan McCain. The McCains are one of the most well-known Republican families in recent history, and for Mrs. McCain to have reached out to us to offer her support truly means a lot. Although we had worked with Meghan McCain before and we were aware of her own position, we'd never really thought the cause might be something her mother could get behind.

Aligning yourself with the platform of gay marriage as a Republican still tends to be very stigmatic, but Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn't matter - marriage equality isn't a Republican issue any more than it is a Democratic issue. It's about human rights, and everybody being treated equally in the eyes of the law that runs and protects this country.

Both McCains' NOH8 photos are below. (h/t

Flea Makes The RHCP a Bit Cooler in My Book

It's all because of this...

Flea Makes Rocking Out Affordable

In an effort to get more instruments into the hands of kids, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has launched a line of affordable bass guitars.

The inspiration for the line came from his students at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where he teaches classes for kids who can't afford a decent instrument. Flea explains:

"I found that a lot of the kids I was teaching were coming in with inexpensive basses, which were pieces of shit. The necks were warped and were falling apart. They were like toys. I wanted to make something that kids could afford but were quality, play well and last a long time…I had been adding my name to established bass models for many years, but I thought, 'Fuck it, I'll make my own bass! I'll make it bitching and it'll be cool!' I just want the kids to rock!"

And so they shall, thanks to you!

Very cool!
